UN Suspends Humanitarian Activities in Haut-Mbomou
By Suzan CARTER-JONES | LNC
(Bangui, July 4, 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) Total insecurity has prevailed for several months in the Haut-Mbomou region of the Central African Republic, with a rising number of attacks against humanitarian workers; consequently, the UN is suspending its humanitarian activities in the area to protect its staff. Local populations are thus left trapped, in urgent need of both humanitarian aid and security. Compounding this is the heightened risk of malnutrition and disease, which could worsen an already fragile humanitarian situation. The region is already isolated, with limited access to food and medicine, and is experiencing a surge in internal displacement. The international community is not indifferent to this critical situation; calls for urgent intervention to restore security in the region are being made. However, the complexity of the conflict in the Central African Republic presents significant challenges. While suspending its operations, the United Nations continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the tensions. Local actors are being called upon in this conflict; by collaborating with international organizations, they can contribute to stabilizing the region. For: LAMINE MEDIA (in FR and GB)
