Government: No dialogue with the opposition
By Yannick DORÉ | LNC Translated into English by Susan CARTER JONES l LNC
(Bangui, 26 April 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) What is happening in politics is rather baffling, particularly with regard to the 7th Republic (the direction of which remains unclear), Touadéra advocated dialogue, so why, during a press conference held on Friday 24 April in Bangui, did the Presidency’s spokesperson, Albert Yaloke Mokpem, respond bluntly to this request from the BRDC: ‘What dialogue do they want now?’, he asked, casting doubt on the relevance of this request. According to him, the opposition platform presents “no valid argument” likely to justify the opening of new discussions with the Head of State; Faustin Touadéra further considers this request to be “illegitimate and baseless”. What is this double standard? The BRDC, for its part, maintains its position and reaffirms its commitment to an inclusive dialogue. Meeting on 16 April 2026 at the headquarters of the Patrie party in Bangui, the members of this political coalition took stock of Touadéra’s ten years in office (Bangui, for example, has been left 50 years behind). For the bloc’s coordinator, Mr Crépin Mboli-Goumba, the Central African Republic is undergoing a political crisis that requires a collective response: “The population must mobilise to demand that a political dialogue be held,” he said. In 2025, Prime Minister Félix Moloua had received representatives from the BRDC, but this did not result in the expected talks actually taking place. In this context, there is a gap between Touadéra’s words and his actions, and as the BRDC puts it, “What has he actually done in 10 years, apart from talking?”
