He noted that these diseases, which often remain silent for many years, can lead to serious complications if not diagnosed in time. Yet, they are largely preventable through vaccination, early screening, adherence to hygiene measures, and appropriate medical care. Consequently, health authorities have launched an awareness campaign to curb the spread of viral hepatitis and encourage the population to adopt behaviors that protect their health.

(Bangui, August 2, 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) During July, Claudine Bagaza-Dini—a lawyer with the Central African Republic Bar and the NGO Lawyers Without Borders (ASF)—conducted an investigation into minors held in prisons in the Central African Republic; the findings are far from encouraging. Indeed, the investigation highlights several shortcomings in the treatment of children deprived of their liberty, such as dilapidated infrastructure, a lack of spaces adapted for minors, insufficient educational and psychosocial support, and the frequent use of pre-trial detention. These realities raise questions regarding respect for children's rights and compliance with national and international juvenile justice standards. According to Claudine Bagaza-Dini, this study underscores the need for prison system reform and advocates for alternative solutions over the deprivation of liberty, which should remain an exceptional measure.
