Rising fuel prices, the unions are getting involved
By Firmine YABADA l LNC
(Bangui on October 10, 2026, the LAMINE MEDIA) Storm on the horizon of the social climate in the Central African Republic. Indeed, faced with soaring fuel prices at the pump, a collective has been created bringing together ten trade union federations, including the CCTC, the CGTC, and the CTID, which are demanding wage increases and higher pensions. in order to cope with rising prices.
These trade unions are sounding the death knell on the deterioration of living conditions for households, and believe that the rise in fuel prices is exacerbating the daily difficulties of workers, who now have difficulty covering their families' basic needs.
These unions have written their grievances in a letter sent to the main institutions of the country, with a copy to the Presidency, and although they have not yet started any protest movement, for example by strikes, they warn, however, that the dissatisfaction of the population is growing.
More generally, the government is being pushed to take rapid measures to relieve households from rising living costs.
