(Bangui, July 12, 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, Mr. Marc Mandaba, met with the official in charge of Political, Economic, and Humanitarian Assistance Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Bangui, Ms. Emily Shaffer. During the meeting, discussions focused on how to assist and promote American companies wishing to establish operations in the Central African Republic. In this context, the American company ZUBA Broadband sought the Embassy's support to facilitate introductions to Central African authorities—specifically the Minister of Digital Economy, Posts, and Telecommunications; the Minister of Finance and Budget; the Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation; and, ultimately, Faustin Touadéra. Specifically, ZUBA Broadband’s project also includes solutions in the renewable energy sector, particularly solar power. However, upon further investigation, it turns out that ZUBA Broadband is not an American company but a Rwandan one based in Kigali; this suggests potential trouble ahead.
