Meeting on inclusive governance in Bégoua

(Bégouai, 2 June 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) At the end of last month, the Begoua Youth Centre hosted a training and awareness-raising workshop on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325. Organised by the NGO Action Concertée pour l’Autonomisation de la femme en République Centrafricaine (ACAF-RCA) as part of the Women, Peace and Security in Central Africa project, this meeting helped to enhance the training of local authorities and promote inclusive governance. It should be noted that the Central African Republic remains severely affected by the consequences of successive political and security crises. Women and girls, who are particularly affected by violence and discrimination, nevertheless play an essential role in conflict prevention and social cohesion. This workshop helped to consolidate understanding of the concepts of democratic governance and human rights, to present the legislation protecting women in the CAR, and to explain the four pillars of Resolution 1325: participation, protection, prevention and recovery. There were forty participants, including administrative officials, community leaders, representatives of women’s and youth organisations, and members of civil society. According to Charlotte Darwane, President of this NGO, the discussions focused on governance, gender equality, national and international legal instruments, as well as awareness-raising and advocacy strategies. The day was structured around a participatory approach, featuring presentations, group work and case studies, before the development of a local action plan.
