Three children abducted in Djemah (Haut-Mbomou)
By Karine ALLOUCHE | LAMINE MEDIA
(Djemah, 8 May 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) In Djemah, Haut-Mbomou, approximately 3 kilometres from the town, unidentified armed men have abducted three children, plunging their families and the entire community into deep concern. And as the mayor, Catherine Toumokpio, states, there have been no significant developments since the abduction. “To date, we have received no reassuring news. The kidnappers have given no sign of life and have made no demands.” According to local sources, the perpetrators of this abduction are believed to be Tongo-Tongo members of the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), led by Joseph Kony. Although considerably weakened, this group nevertheless continues to sow terror in certain remote areas of eastern Central African Republic. And Djemah lives in fear of further abductions, so the town is calling on the national authorities and security forces to step up the search in order to find the victims safe and sound. This situation once again highlights the persistent security challenges in the Haut-Mbomou region, where the presence of armed groups continues to undermine the safety of civilian populations. It also underscores the urgent need to strengthen protection and surveillance measures in these vulnerable areas.
