ICASEES Launches Second Edition

By Karen Ann SULLIVAN | LNC

(Bangui, June 8, 2026 | LAMINE MEDIA) Through the Ministry of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation (MEPCI), the Central African Institute of Statistics and Economic and Social Studies (ICASEES) launched the second phase of its training for interviewers of the Harmonized Survey on Household Living Conditions (EHCVM 2) in Bangui from June 4 to July 8, 2026. This regional initiative, conducted in other CEMAC countries, allows for harmonized comparison and better integration of development indicators. In Bangui, ICASEES Director General Bienvenu Ali officially launched the training. For four weeks, participants will be trained in various modules, including data collection, statistical production, mastery of data collection technologies, and technical concepts related to statistical surveys. This training is provided by national trainers, the ICASEES (National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies) management team, and the institution's staff. At the outset, Bienvenu Ali emphasized the importance of this survey: “This morning, the Ministry of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, through its agency ICASEES, officially launched the second edition of the Harmonized Survey on Household Living Conditions, sometimes referred to as the poverty survey. In 2021, the government conducted this survey, which revealed that 65.5% of our households were living below the poverty line.” With the reforms implemented and the announcement of the National Development Plan, it is important for us, as the national statistical institution, to launch this second edition to assess all the efforts made by the government and its technical and financial partners. Candidates are urged to demonstrate diligence and active participation during the training: “Every module, every concept, and every practical or simulation exercise is essential. No lateness or absences will be tolerated, as the final selection will be rigorous. It will be based not only on your technical skills but also on your behavior and ethics during this training.” With this training, ICASEES aims to develop, in the long term, competent and better-trained technicians in the field of statistical data collection, enabling them to meet the challenges associated with new digital data collection technologies.
