Army Accused of Coup d'État?
By Marie VERGEAUX | LNC
(Bangui, June 16, 2026 | LAMIINE MEDIA) For several days, messages circulating on social media, digital platforms, and within certain political circles have alleged an attempt by the army, the FACA, to destabilize the authorities. The Central African Armed Forces (FACA) General Staff firmly rejects these accusations implicating them in a supposed plot to overthrow the current regime. This was stated in a press release published on June 13. The statement adds that these accusations aim to tarnish the image of the FACA and its commander, General Zéphirin Mamadou, as well as to undermine the Central African Armed Forces' efforts to strengthen their capabilities. Reaffirming its commitment to the institutions of the Republic, respect for the constitutional order, and loyalty to the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Consequently, a judicial investigation has been opened to identify those responsible for this accusation.
