Consequently, Christian Emmanuel Ouyamba, the Minister’s Chief of Staff, launched an operation on Thursday, July 30, to clear the piles of refuse blocking the gutters at Miskine market as part of the capital's sanitation efforts. But all of this is merely a stopgap measure. An urban sanitation policy initiated by the Government? Yeah, right—amateur hour! Since the 1960s, Bangui has effectively lacked a proper road and drainage infrastructure system; it is a state of anarchy, despite initiatives like "Kwa Ti Kodro" aimed at promoting public hygiene and protecting the city.
