Helping Hands from Member of Parliament Ali Akhras
By Karen Ann SULLIVAN | LNC
(Bangui, October 30, 2026 | LAMINE MÉDIA) While perhaps only a drop in the ocean given the catastrophic state of the Central African national education system, Member of Parliament Ali Akhras—known as "le Lobayen"—reaffirmed his commitment to education at the start of the 2026–2027 school year by distributing school supplies to 16 institutions across the six districts of Mbata. Through an initiative led by his team in collaboration with local parent-teacher associations, more than 1,500 school bags, 1,000 water bottles, 1,000 pencil cases, 20 cartons of notebooks, two cartons of chalk, and one carton of pens were distributed.
Specifically, the beneficiaries are located in the districts of Mbata, Bokanga, Bouchia, Bangui-Bouchia, Molangue, and Belou.
The elected official intends to expand his social outreach, which includes supporting community-hired teachers ("maîtres-parents") and covering school costs for underprivileged children and orphans. The overarching goal is to bolster the capacity of these institutions by providing essential educational materials.
Ali Akhras is also active in other areas, including healthcare, as well as initiatives focused on women, youth, and the elderly.
